This is a typical working day for Emer, Senior Occupational Therapist at Vincent Square Eating Disorders. Her role focuses on supporting patients to make positive changes to do with their eating disorder and related symptoms.
“I’ve been here for four years and worked in every different part of the service. My role is working on the ICT Pathway, which is the Intensive Care Treatment in the community which aims to prevent admissions to the inpatient ward or day program. If you can get an early intervention, you can really stop the symptoms [of an eating disorder] becoming really ingrained as behaviour.”
When asked if she can imagine working anywhere else, her response “No, I really like it here. I can’t imagine myself leaving”.
