I am very pleased to contribute to the Cavendish Square Group Blog, raising awareness of how vital mental health and wellbeing is for everyone. As we face significant economic and political challenges in the UK, and wars, famines and other really though times for many around our world, it is often easy to forget the impact these events have on the mental health of wellbeing of people.
I have been Chief Executive of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust since 2018 and of Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust since autumn 2021. The two neighbouring Trusts are working together closely in a formal Partnership to improve services for those who need our support and to improve the working lives of our staff, so they can better support our service users.
Across our Trusts, we are supporting young people, adults and older people with their mental health and working with our partners across the health and care system to prevent mental ill health and promote wellbeing. This means helping people to recover after a crisis, but also helping them to avoid getting into a crisis in the first place, through providing more of our care close to where people live and work and supporting local people with the wider issues affecting mental health, such as employment and housing.
I am very pleased to be supporting World Mental Health Day again this year and look forward to continuing all the great work we are doing together.
