Mental Health Awareness Week

This year's Mental Health Awareness Week (15 to 21 May) theme is Anxiety.

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems people can face. In a recent mental health survey by MentalHealth.org carried out around stress and anxiety, a quarter of adults said they felt so anxious that it stopped them from doing the things they want to do some or all of the time.

Eating disorder patient explains coming to terms with his diagnosis

We recently marked Eating Disorder Awareness Week, where the theme this year was 'men get eating disorders too'.

Following this, a male eating disorder patient has shared his story in a hope to help other men come forward and seek help.

Dillon Chuhan, aged 25, developed bulimia after the first lockdown and remembers seeking help from his GP after he experienced stomach pains and saw blood in his vomit.

The mental health lessons we are learning

Learning about mental health empowers us to improve our wellbeing and quality of life; it helps us to understand the experiences of others and know how to support them in a compassionate and effective way. If stigma around mental health goes unchallenged, it can discourage people from seeking help when they need it most.

Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority

I am very pleased to contribute to the Cavendish Square Group Blog, raising awareness of how vital mental health and wellbeing is for everyone. As we face significant economic and political challenges in the UK, and wars, famines and other really though times for many around our world, it is often easy to forget the impact these events have on the mental health of wellbeing of people.
